Motets and Madrigals - 7.30pm in The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, Upton upon Severn.
It is wonderful to be back at the start of a new season, with a concert of some of the most wonderful a capella music taken from across the last four centuries.
We start our concert in a sacred mood, with three motets from that master of the English Renaissance, William Byrd. We follow these with three motets by Johannes Brahms and three by Anton Brukner. Truly glorious music which has stood the test of time and remains popular today.
The second half of our concert is filled with modern madrigals, the secular partner of the sacred motet. Poulenc's cheeky Chanson Françaises were written in 1945 to celebrate the end of the Second World War, Britten makes his Five Flower Songs clear and unsentimental, and Michael Gryspeerdt gives a modern take on Elizabethan texts in four songs written especially for our choir.
Tickets cost £12 for adults (free for students and children) and are available on the door, or in advance via the PayPal link below. Online orders will be passed to the concert door team and so you will not need a physical ticket.
