In Ecclesiis - 17th Century polychoral music for choir and instruments from across Europe. A 7.30pm concert in St Philip and St James' Church, Leckhampton, Cheltenham.
We are delighted to be collaborating in this concert with talented players of violins, cornetts and sackbuts! They make a joyful noise and this combination of instruments blends magnificently with the sound of a choir.
The concert will include a reflective first half – Gesualdo O vos omnes, Schütz Selig sind die Toten – and finishing with Monteverdi’s glorious Beatus Vir. We also include Cessate tympana, cessate praelia by Maria Xaveria Peruchona.
In the second half there’s more Monteverdi and Schütz plus Giovanni Gabrieli’s Jubilate Deo and In Ecclesiis, after which the concert is named.
Tickets cost £15 each and are free for under-18s and students. They may be bought online here, or on the door.
Please note that there are TWO churches in Cheltenham dedicated to St Philip and St James. Our concert is in the church commonly known as Pip and Jim's, on Grafton Road, GL50 2DD.
